WEEK AT SLAM: July 29th, 2008 |
Next Tuesday is the last slam before the 2008 PuroSlam team heads to Madison, WI, for the 2008 National Poetry Slam (check it out at NPS2008.com). To celebrate, the team will be out in force, performing their Group Pieces and whipping their individual pieces into shape. So come on out, enjoy some Nationals caliber poetry, witness another rowdy slam, and possibly slam yourself! |
ATTENTION: THIS SATURDAY,
JULY 26th NOTES FROM SURVIVOR SLAM X: |
Survivor Slam X: the closest PuroSlam has ever come to complete chaos. 12 poets, 3 teams, 7 rounds (each decided upon at the last minute). Anything Goes, Interpretative Dance (yes, we brought it back), Prop Improv, Cupcake Eating, Group Cover Poems, Straight Up Slam Poetry, and the cruelest round of the night (or so I was told), Air Guitar Poetry. Team Vocab, Team Amanda, and Team David tried to outwit, outplay, and outslam each other, and when all was said and done, and Shaggy's inventive score keeping took its toll, the slam ended in a tie. We had no choice but to settle things with the first ever PuroSlam Sock Wrestlling Match (idea courtesy of the gorgeous Keli). Noah had Lakey beat, but Noah's sock ripped giving Lakey, and thus Team Amanda, the victory!
