SEMIFINALS
ROUND ONE: September 2nd, 2008 |
The Battle for the PuroSlam 2009 Nationals Team officially starts now! On Tuesday, September 2nd, PuroSlam will hold its first of four SemiFinal Rounds as poets compete for four spots on the 2009 PuroSlam Nationals team. The National Poetry Slam occurs every August somewhere in the United States and the four poets who earn themselves a spot on the team will be rewarded with a trip (airfare, hotel) and a chance to perform in front of poets and poetry fans from across the nation. The Top 10 poets from the past four months will be battling it out during three rounds of intense verbal action, with the top 2 poets securing a spot in Finals and making it one step closer to their Slam dream. Don't miss this exciting event, one of the most exhilarating slams of the season! COMING SOON: |
ATTENTION: THIS TUESDAY,
SEPTEMBER 2ND NOTES FROM AUGUST 19th, 2008: |
While the rain fell, the poets spit- HOT FIYAH! 8 poets, two sacrifices, one host, a subdued but enthusiastic crowd, and the most uncomfortable round of Project Mayhem yet made this past Tuesday another pure San Antonio night. David "Don't Call Me Whalen" Hendler hosted, Lakey, Dan Allen, Jennifer the Virgin, Ruff Draft, Noah from the Shire, Monique, and Anthony Flores slammed for the prizes, and Shaggy and Amanda sacrificed their words for the good of all. When all was said and done, Noah Baggins took home 3rd, Mo captured second, and Anthony- yet again- took home the gold. Someone must stop this man! The slammin' was spectacular, but the highlight of the night, and the man who stole the show, was Michael Phelps. Even though he was in China, his mere existence intimidated us all and his name became the mantra for the night. He is a God and we worship him so. Sorry Malik Rose, but it is now.....MICHAEL PHELPS BIATCH!
