Huh? Pinche what? Slam no longer at Sam's? Wha? Say it ain't so.

Yes, my puro puppis, the puro slam is moving down the road to Atomix at 1902 McCullough, across the street from the famous (and abandoned) "Belgian House" that is regarded by some experts as one of San Anto's most haunted places. Dont worry! puro slam is ghostbusters. Shaggy is Dan Ackroyd.

But why the move? You want answers? Ah! The only answer you need to know is the san anto institution of Tuesday night rowdy words, featuring the highest attended weekly spokernword open-mic audience in the entire country, still continues! Same puro slam night! (Almost the) Same puro slam time (9:30pm!). Different puro slam station - ATOMIX, home of San Anto puro slam. Take it! Tens of thousands have since 1999!

The tradition continues Jan 22! And if you mention Emmett Grogan at the door that night, you will be in the running for a special puro slam prize!

Going strong since 1999, the weekly San Anto puro ¡SLAM! draws one of the largest audiences to a spokenword open-mic in the entire country. The San Anto audience is encouraged to react in any manner they see fit, which is the foundation of a poetry slam, and the San Anto crowd has a reputation for not only being attentive but responsive. Although it's a great thrill to have a crowd of 200, well-liquored people cheer a poet, there's nothing like a crowd of 200 well-liquored folk jeering a "poet". For more about poetry slams, go here.
